Shoes
I've fantasized about starting my own clothing line for a lot of years because I can't find what I want in stores. Reality: I may never start a clothing line.
So feel free to make this stuff so I can find what I want to wear in stores and stop feeling like I need to start a clothing line to be comfortable in my clothes.
I have a long history of catching doors on my heel and ripping my heel open. It's full of scar tissue and I hate having a back end to my shoes.
I also hate tying shoes, hate velcro shoes, etc. I like being able to slip my shoes on and off without touching them with my hands at all.
For summer, I need a sandal style. For much of the year when it is colder and damper, I need a closed toe shoe, but with NO BACK.
I may also want winter boots at some point. This post is about SHOES though, so details on boots might be a separate post someday.
I grew up wearing Italian leather sandals -- thanks Mom! -- but both my feet are covered in scars, so I need a variation on it that works for me. Plus I have joint issues that make high heels a no go for me.
I can handle flats or a moderate heel if they are well designed.
At one time, I had two pairs of sandals with a moderate heel. Same exact style, two different colors.
They were super comfortable to wear and walk in and were nearly ideal for what I want, including actually looking good, unlike crocs which I wear because they are practical but I hate how they look.
I like traditional conservative brown leather.
I also like brightly dyed leathers: Red, orange, blues of almost any shade, teals and greens. Purple too.
Shoes with some adjustability, like velcro straps that you tighten to ANY place you want without notches, are a godsend to people with certain kinds of foot issues.
My fantasy clothing line is intended to be handicapped-friendly. Some sort of flexibility in sizing is very helpful in that regard, which might mean like elastic in the edge of the mule or something like that to help adjust to my feet which can swell and shrink.
In Germany, you can buy shoes for a big gal that actually look attractive. In the US, if you can't shop at a 5-7-9 store, they assume you have had a lobotomy to remove any sense of taste or style or self esteem and only desire to live in ugly stuff for some damn reason.
Stripes are a definite maybe IF they run front to back, not crossways, and are UNEVEN, like the pants Steve Tyler wears in the video for Living on the Edge (about the 1:50 mark).
I also like roses, wild flowers and window-pane plaids. I also like paisley.
I like red, BUT not fire engine red. More like tomato or wine. I do well in dusty, conservative colors and also brights, like teal and fuschia.
